Jeremiah is imprisoned because he is thought to be going over to the Chaldeans. Jeremiah was moved into the guardhouse. Jeremiah is cast into the cistern for the words he has spoken from the Lord. Jeremiah spoke with the king and they devised a plan to allow Jeremiah to survive and stay in the guardhouse. Jerusalem is invaded, the king is captured and blinded, his son are killed, and his palaces ans houses are burned. “For I will certainly rescue you, and you will not fall by the sword; but you will have your own life as booty, because you have trusted in Me,” declares the LORD.'” Jeremiah remains in Judah, plots are made to take the lives of others. Gedaliah is murdered along with many others. Johanan returns and rescues all the people. At the peoples request, Jeremiah prays to the Lord for help. The Lord tells the people to remain where they are and not to go to Egypt for protection. The Lord promised to take care of them if they trust and remain in this land.
